I love the minimalism of these shoes so I think they would be a lot lighter these days with all their lightweight and durable materials. I prefer lightness to heaviness in every old day. But overall the shoe definitely looks like the outsole is made out of a durable material, and since the sole is thin it's possible that the material was chosen strong enough to protect the feet from any nasty surprises in the terrain. But somehow I feel like it can still get lighter, perhaps by using a lightweight carbon material that is flexible but retains its properties when thin. Maybe something hasn't been developed yet. Crock brand foam is usually thicker because when it's thinner you can feel the pebbles under your feet. I assume DuPont has something they developed for NASA or the military? I have this chronic habit of always looking for something that I think should exist but hasn't been invented yet. Maybe this is what's going on here. I think I recognize a sole material that is often used in heavy duty boots, like the Lugg boots? I don't know but I wouldn't buy heavy boots because they are too heavy. I would buy them again because they are thin which makes them lighter and the design is great!
