They work fine so far, but after installing the first one I tweaked the rest a bit and they worked much better. I followed the instructions closely on the first one, but after removing the floor mat, I saw that two hooks near the center of the unit had come loose. For the rest, I tapped following the directions to the part where I hammered them in. At this point I carefully removed the floor mat rather than pushing it with my heel and used a large socket and hammer to firmly secure the unit to the floor. It worked well and there were no more broken spikes. They were a little larger than I thought, almost 2 inches in diameter. If they made the smaller ones out of aluminum they would definitely get 5 stars!
