I think it's normal for a mini trash can. Looks stylish and fits most car consoles. The construction is not the best. To clean this item you have 2 options: plush "cover". I use the term loose because it's a piece of silicone with a slit at the top that just hangs in place so it can be cleaned. Push the "lid" up or down I think and just shake the jar over other junk and pour out the contents, hopefully all dry and not gross like chewing gum or something or option 2. Remove the silicone sleeve from the plastic base but it's really hard and quite difficult to remove. Let's also have an idea of the construction of this item: the entire cylinder is about the height of a soda can but not as thick, the silicone sleeve or top occupies almost the entire length of the item, and the plastic base is just less than half the side of the silicone case. So when the item is filled to the brim when most people throw out the trash, and you remove the plastic bottom, the trash falls all over the place, so hopefully you're already standing over the trash you're using to empty the small plastic trash can. Not sure if it makes sense but it's hard to explain and I tried to take photos but pulled my sleeve off once and now I can't do it again. I am sorry. Anyway, long story short, it works for my use, mostly just straw packs and lots of empty pouches of Crystal Light single serve drink mix in the machine. I don't chew gum and I'm pretty good with other foods, like items in my car and I'm the only person driving my car. If I had young children I would not dare try this item in the car as I know it will go bad in just a few days. Also the price is good for what it is and again it looks nice and I can work with it but honestly I bet the O could do better overall in terms of quality and price.
