Maybe not the best for wide hips.
I'm 5'6" and 145lbs. I got a medium. It fits and is soft. But I can style it quite right on my wide hips. It would be good for a skinny or fit person.I have pics with it straight and pics bunched up like the stock photos.I also think a belt would look good with it if you actually have a waist to belt in. I don't because mines not that much smaller than my hips. I live the top part of it though.
