Too heavy for spinning fiber

I took a chance and bought these spindles despite the lack of feedback and information from the seller. Spindle. Turkish is no exception. I tried the thickest, coarsest fiber I've ever used to spin these spindles. If you need very thick chunky yarn - I mean carpet yarn - this will help. They have great shooting times which is why I gave them 3 stars. But the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, because you can buy the same size spindle, but much lighter (for a lot of money, of course), which can be used for many fibers. Here are the specs: Height: 7" Shoulder Width: 5+" Weight: about 4 ounces! (approximately - I compared it to my heaviest reel, the 2.75 oz Ashford Wood Top Curl). A standard Turkish wooden spindle of the same dimensions weighs less than 1 ounce! If the seller/manufacturer could reduce the weight of the handles, I would suggest filigreing "holes" or "cutouts" or something similar. in the wider of the two arms - then it will be a much better spindle.

Pros
  • Perfect set: Spindle in three parts, two arms crossed, main shaft fixed in the middle, perfectly balanced spindle. This is the perfect accessory for processing natural wool
Cons
  • Quick Guide
