I just bought an LG G8 phone with Quad DAC and thought I can't wait to hear it with my new Audio Technica ATH M50x headphones. Well I was very disappointed, my $20 KOSS KPH30iK in-ear headphones sounded better than the M50x as the achievable volume was significantly higher. I thought the problem was with the M50x until I did a little research and realized my G8 didn't have enough power to push them. I bought a cheaper amp with a volume wheel on wheels and it definitely gives my phone extra power to drive the M50x headphones. The Audio Technica headphones now definitely sound better than my cheaper KOSS phones (which are great too) as they should have been. It was a very affordable and convenient way to pair my G8 phone with a quad DAC and get the most out of it. my M50x headphones. Very happy with this compact purchase, especially at this price point.
