You don't need to be a super experienced DIY person, but you do need some skills and equipment to install this. Mainly you need to center the three shelves and have them be equidistant along the vertical axis (unless you are doing a configuration different from mine). I used a laser level to align them vertically and a regular spirit level to screw the brackets horizontally to the wall. To ensure equidistance, I first set up the top and bottom first (with enough room to accommodate items on the middle shelf later) and then measured the spot for the middle shelf. An electric drill would have helped but my batteries were flat, so I used a screwdriver instead, wasn't a huge inconvenience but an electric drill would have made the job easier.I reused space that was previously taken up by a calendar on a wall of pictures in front of my desk, and I was able to use the resulting shelf space to move a lot of small items (mainly job related awards) off my desk and onto the shelf. I think you will agree that the result is quite nice.
