Review on πŸ’Ύ PNY 256GB PRO Elite Class 10 U3 V30 microSDXC Flash Memory Card: Unleash Optimal Performance and Massive Storage Capacity by Barry Hill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Read and write speeds are very close to advertised (results may vary by card reader).

I just bought another one of these cards after having good experiences with PNY Pro Elite microSDXC cards in my smartphones and just doing two different tests with the latest version of CrystalDiskMark and two different card readers I have, have performed . .The first card reader is the Kingston MobileLite Plus USB 3.2 microSDHC/SDXC UHS-II Card Reader. The second card reader is the Cable Matters Dual Slot USB C Card Reader (model number 201058). I will list the ASINs for each card. at the end of my review for easier searching. I can't be sure whether or not the card readers limit the microSDXC card's ability to reach its full advertised speeds. All I know is that I get slightly different results with two different card readers when plugged directly into the USB 3.2 Gen2 port on the back of my AsRock X570 Taichi desktop motherboard with the latest chipset drivers. Please note that the Kingston card reader has a USB-A connector while the Cable Matters card reader has a USB-C connector. However, the USB-A and USB-C ports I used on my motherboard were right next to each other, and again both were rated for USB 3.2 Gen2 speeds. The USB ports on my motherboard are designed for this USB protocol. microSDXC cards and card readers are not. Please see my photos for test results. Read and write speeds for both card readers were within +/- 2-3 MB/s of advertised sequential read/write speeds. I doubt anyone will notice the difference in real applications unless you're doing a time sensitive file transfer. For the average consumer, I would say that these cards represent good value for money, especially when they are on sale. I would have no hesitation in recommending these cards to friends and family, and I do. I hope this helps you make a more informed purchasing decision. A good alternative to these cards, offering slightly better read speeds and possibly around the same price, are the Sandisk Extreme branded microSDXC cards with ASIN B07FCR3316. They are rated for read speeds of 160MB/s with the same write speed as the PNY Pro Elite at 90MB/s. Prices vary from $5 to $10, so there isn't much of a difference. The ASIN number for the Kingston card reader is B085P5FDXQ. The ASIN number for the Cable Matters card reader is B01KXWIHZY.
