I'm a professional videographer, so I understand that your audio is just as important as your video. I have multiple cameras and some have XLR inputs that allow me to connect two mics and control the audio at the same time. I also have a few cameras that don't allow me to do that. This device offers these features and some others. I love the fact that I can control the volume of two separate microphones and plug in headphones, but I also love the fact that this unit gives you 3 cold shoe mounts, it's metal, and it has a 3V switch to power the microphones. who needs it. The only two things I don't like are that there is no way to increase the gain (no preamps) and no peak meters or audio meters. To be honest, as cheap as it is I'm not sure you can really expect it. There is a workaround for the gain issue when you connect the camera to the headphone jack instead of the output. There is a very strong signal, but then you can't listen with headphones. In general it works very well!
