Review on πŸ”§ Andersen Hitches 8" Drop No-Sway Weight Distribution Hitch with 2-5/16" Ball and 2" Shank (3, 4, 5, 6" Bracket) and Universal Frame Brackets - 3380 by Micheal Wolf

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sophisticated design, integrated weight distribution, pendulum hitch. Plus: Ball Alignment TIP for the clutch triangle plate

I have compared the designs of every other anti-sway and weight distribution clutch on the market. Andersen's "No-Sway" weight distribution hitch proved to be the best and relatively simple design. Not having to deal with torsion bars and not having to do anything extra before belaying is a plus. I bought this 4 months ago for my 19ft trailer and installed it myself in less than two hours (maybe I could have done it quicker but I kept re-reading the instructions to make sure I didn't miss a step ). So far it seems to be working fine. No problems driving on winding, mountainous roads. I haven't had the chance to experience any serious swaying like overtaking a tractor trailer in a strong crosswind, but the design seems solid and my wife is reassured knowing we have sway protection (one of the main reasons). for buying a trailer hitch :) ). Chains and rubber compression springs effectively distribute the weight. You may find that the chains tighten when you lower a load onto the hitch ball. I was able to attach and remove the lower triangular plate without undoing the bolts by simply lowering the hitch jack to take the weight off the hitch and pulling the pin out when the chains were slack. NOTE. My trailer is pretty light. vs max. Drawbar rating is 3324 (gross weight 10,000 lbs) vs my trailer (gross weight 3,800 lbs) so your experience may vary. Reattaching the triangular clutch plate can be a bit tricky. If you move the tractor and do not re-hitch it at the same angle, the pin holes on the underside of the hitch ball may not line up with the holes on the triangular plate. Sometimes you can loosen the nut on one side until there is enough slack to line up the holes, but sometimes the angle is too great and you need to temporarily remove one of the chains. (This whole process is normal and is described in the user manual.) However, I found an easier way. the bottom hole of the hitch ball and use the rod to gently rotate the hitch ball until it aligns with the holes in the triangular plate. The problem is solved! Pros: * Good design and solid construction * Can be installed by yourself if you are skilled * No need to loosen the anti-swing friction/torsion bars before reversing * Works! * Installation guides are well written. *You can download sizing info and full instructions from [.]. Cons: * Rejoining a triangular plate can sometimes be tricky, but not if you're using a steel rod (see TIP above).
