The bit uses two sets of blades with one tooth offset from each other. It took a long time for the router to connect with two fingers. Essentially you need to create a 2.1mm spacer (wood, plastic) and place it under each piece you are going to connect. That said, the first pass gives you a left profile if you look at Freud's picture of the joint under the bat picture, then flip the piece horizontally, place a spacer underneath and you have a right profile. . They blend together perfectly and only require a light shave (planing or thicknessing) and you get a nice bump-to-grain transition. And quite elegant! Enjoy!
