I have a Farberware apple slice that makes 8 pieces. The slices are too thick to make an apple pie, so I bought this food slicer in high hopes of saving time. The ergonomics are basically the same, but comparatively less firm when pressing the apple. I had to press really hard to even start cutting. The blades are not sharp enough to pierce an apple more than an inch. Tried different apples. Stronger and softer. Unfortunately no luck. If you run your fingers over a Farberware product, caution is advised, not this one. If I had more strength, maybe I could get through it. I'm not here to fight with my apple slices. Baking is for relaxation.
