My cat is fed grain free pellets for free and has started to lose significant weight. The blood tests were good and his teeth are fine, so I started experimenting with food. He *devours* this food. He's never been motivated by food or interested in other wet food, but he'll come running when he hears a can open. I fed him half a can daily and as much food as he wanted and saw an immediate improvement. He's gained weight, his fur is thicker and softer, and he looks happier.
