Review on πŸ”Š Nobsound HiFi TPA3116D2 2.1 Channel Digital Audio Power Amplifier - Stereo Amp with Subwoofer, Treble and Bass Adjustment - 2Γ—50W+100W by Karen Peterson

New favorite portable amp.

I had several of these little amps. My favorite so far has been the Lepai 2020+, a pure two-channel amp. I built a couple of bookshelf speakers and a small subwoofer to use with a couple of 2.1 amps I've bought over the years, but none of them justified the purchase price and my homebuilt 2.1 speakers ended up in the Wardrobe. waiting for something better. Finally something better is here and I love it! It actually has a functional, adjustable subwoofer low-pass filter that does its job well. It has an additional volume control to mix the woofer with the mains. It also has bass and treble controls for the main pair of stereo speakers. The volume control turns off all three speakers as it should. Something that one of the old amps didn't do. I am powering this amp with a 24v 5 amp power supply. My home built 2.1 speakers have an impedance of 4 ohms and are quite sensitive although I don't remember the numbers. When I turned it on, I heard no "clap" and tried several times. This amp makes them pretty loud. Loud enough for my wife to get up and go downstairs. She said that the TV in the kitchen was muted from time to time. Highs are crystal clear and lows are tight and we define them. It sounds just as good as Lepai, but with more volume and maybe better, I'd have to face it face to face. It's clean and undistorted to about 2/3 the volume, which is common with many amps. Some of these may be related to my speakers or could be fixed with a more powerful PSU. In any case, it's already loud enough. The only downside I can think of is the LED being on. I don't know why it stays on all the time. It would be better if it turns off when the amp is off. Oh, nitpicks here, but abbreviations; Volume, bass, treble, etc. are difficult to read in terms of color and are a bit washed out. It would also be better if they were placed above the handles rather than below. Still five stars from me. Great little amp.
