We bought these because my son's dresser fell in his room. Glad he wasn't among them. His dresser was very heavy, so he never thought it would tip over. The reason he fell was because he opened all the drawers at once. The weight of the boxes filled with clothes made him fall over. My son is 5 so he jumped off the street. He was looking for something, so he just opened the boxes. I always thought these straps were for people who don't supervise their kids and don't let kids climb on furniture. I never thought his dresser would tip over, but I think it makes sense given he has all the drawers open and once plus the weight of his clothes. Always be prepared for the unexpected!
