Review on ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Performance-driven Salomon Men's X Crest Hiking: Unmatched Quality and Durability by David Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

After riding the trails for 30 miles, I fell in love.

My last few pairs of shoes have consistently caused blisters on my heels that no tape, gaiters or long socks can fix. My heels and midfoot are just too narrow for shoes sold in most retail stores. This year I went online to find "shoes for narrow feetโ€ and one of the brands that keeps coming up is Salomon. I jumped at the chance to purchase these X Crest shoes and happily rode the trails without a single blister on my heel while wearing them. This is one of them. I usually wear shoes in size 10.5 US (43-44 EU) but here I ordered 11.5 (46). Size 11.5 fit my foot almost perfectly. I can lace my shoes tight enough that my midfoot and heel are nice and tidy, but still have enough room in the toe box for my toes to splay without pressing together. I couldn't get this fit with my previous shoes - when I tightened the laces so that the heel was tight, they were too tight in the midfoot and toe. When I loosened the laces to free my toes, the shoes would dangle around my foot. The X Crest shoes finally gave me the fit I was looking for. Another part of the X Crest shoe that I appreciate is the rounded heel. Other shoes have a soft sole that protrudes from the heel. Unfortunately, this part acts like a dustpan and picks up dirt and debris when I lift my foot. This debris inevitably gets into the shoe, rubbing between the toe and the shoe and eventually forming blisters on the heel. The X Crest's rounded heel prevents this, and although I've slogged for miles on muddy and dusty trails in these shoes, I haven't been able to find a single rock in the sock. In my opinion, the Salomon X Crest trail running shoes are a good choice for anyone who wants to run muddy and dusty trails with narrow feet without having to worry about blisters. Just follow the recommendation to order one size larger than your usual shoe size.
