A surviving colony of wild cats hides in the comforting warmth of a polar vortex.

I have a colony of feral cats in the Staten Island wilderness. There are no architectural fences nearby, no access to electricity, my cats are all technically retired this year. And it was the winter of the polar vortex. Although they have warm, straw filled shelters, are healthy, winter weight and have thicker fur, I wanted to provide them with an external heat source to raise their body temperature on particularly rough nights, so I bought Pet Love filled heat packs to put over my stockings to put hats and hats in the straw for protection. They were a hit with cats, who would gorge themselves on food and then hop back into their burrows and perch on heat packs, slowly blinking their eyes in warm contentment when the frost was evident outside the burrows. The thickness wasn't a problem for cats, although the large size offered a large area that radiated ample heat. Because I have multiple animals and each animal has a shelter, the volume/price ratio of the heating pad didn't work out the way I wanted and I ended up stocking up on an 18 hour heating pad when needed. turned out to be more beneficial for us. And so Pet Love heating pads are simply excellent.
