This is my first time buying a 3 hole tabletop punch. I used to just leave my punches there until I got to campus. Given the current crisis, we can understand why I didn't have a choice in the end. This, they say, explains my frustration at my inexperience. I knew there was no guide/protruding tab for the paper, but at least I figured the end punches would be proportional to the length of the device. Let's just say my first few attempts were devastating and I was furious! I came back here to try and find advice and then I read the reviews and questions about there being no alignment or guidance, and I found that the final blows were disproportionate to both sides. That annoyed me even more. I was willing to return this piece of junk. Well I finally solved this for me so don't worry if you're going through the same thing! The "B" in the upper "BOSTITCH" is closest to you. Insert the paper into the appropriate slot on the right side of the device (if you're left-handed, do it the other way around?). You will now notice a thin, raised strip of plastic where the paper bottom of the paper should be closest to the "B" side of the punch. (You won't find it on the other side) THIS IS YOUR GUIDE!
