I bought this straightener because I thought the steam component would straighten and moisturize my hair. Well NOT! The steam is actually the most annoying part of the iron. The water compartment is too small and does not hold enough water. I had to fill the water tank about every three passes of the iron through my hair because after the first, two bursts of steam it was all gone :( The iron plates themselves get very hot and really straighten the hair, but I could have paid a lot less for a regular one Iron and forgot the "steam" function because it just doesn't do what is described, I don't recommend it.
