It's hard to imagine how razor blades can work or feel so different, but after spending a few months comparing Astra blades to very highly rated Feather blades, I've come to the conclusion come that I really prefer Astra. As advertised, the springs are very sharp. Maybe too hard. Although I am currently an experienced DS shaver, I live in fear of cutting myself with these blades. They require a very light "feather" touch and a careful stroke. In addition, the shaving quality decreases noticeably after 3-4 uses. On the other hand, Astra woods have a glide quality that inspires confidence. I have found that I shave faster and with more pressure when using the Astras. I can also get 6 or 7 shaves with one blade without significant loss of quality. Also, they're cheaper and a little easier to get from paper packaging than feathers. Please note that the cardboard boxes that came to me were quite crumpled in contrast to the smooth plastic boxes that Feathers came in. But I don't shave. with boxes, so I don't care.
