I am really very impressed with this gadget. It works as advertised on my 2017 Ford Escape. The hardest part of the setup had nothing to do with this device. Instead, updating Ford Sync 3.0 from v2 to v3 was one hell of a task. I had to download the update from Ford to a desktop computer, unzip it, move the contents of the main folder to a USB flash drive (not the folder itself, it was critical), and then, with the engine running, put the drive in the car and wait about 30-40 minutes. You can drive, just keep the engine running until the update is complete, after that you need to restart the car. This adapter will not work without a sync update. You can probably do the update over WiFi, but it will take a long time. The flash drive method is more reliable.*** The instructions for this device do not say anything about connecting to WiFi. I had to research it on other sites and user reviews. On my device the network name is "Volkswagen64" and the password is 12345678. How they can remove that from the manual is beyond me. There is a slight delay of 1-2 seconds in audio track controls, but that's to be expected. with wireless technology of this kind. Google Maps turn-by-turn directions continue to work properly.
