We are renovating a house and our attic/cat area was the first thing we needed to do. We used to have an ugly colorful rug that was supposed to help snatch litter from the cat's paws, but it was too big to collect and throw away. It also looked very sloppy. I wanted something smaller and more manageable that would also match our new floor and not look so gaudy. That's when I came across this carpet design. There are several of these rugs on the market. Initially, the large rugs I bought from another seller weren't big enough. Their image was misleading and it's difficult to judge sizing for your actual needs until you see them in person. I did another search and came across these rugs which were much larger. My husband remarked that they looked too big upon arrival. Well, I started using them right away and I see that's not the case. I want them to be long so that when the cats leave, the remnants of the filler are scattered all over the carpet and not all over the floor. I love the long size for this purpose. I was also able to easily place them on two of our litter boxes that we keep under the table to control odors. I was afraid they would tear and not lay flat. The carpets were indeed wavy when they arrived. We put them under a heavy cat feeder for about 24 hours, but they're actually big enough that they lay flat on their own when we use them. I think I read a mention of an odor they may have had when I pulled them out, but they were in an open area. Nobody uses them as bed pillows so the smell dissipated quickly and didn't bother me at all. them officially to this day. As the rugs are large, you must be careful when picking them up as the debris will fall apart when you pick them up off the ground. I folded them up to empty them into the tray. That's why I gave them 4 stars. I may come back and change my rating to 5 stars if I feel I just had to learn how to throw it in the bin. The problem is that the solid bottom is shorter than the top of the mat. So first you not only have to fold the rug, but also tilt it back. As for the first rug, I thought I lined up to pour it into the tray, but since the bottom is shorter I made a mistake and poured the filler onto the bottom. So I did it again with the second mat and tried to level it. I was sure I had leveled it, but then again, that shorter floor gave me the illusion that I was level, and I started pouring it back onto the floor. If your litter boxes DO NOT have a lid or you decide to remove the top to clean, you can simply empty the litter into the box instead of spilling it all over the bottom. But I don't usually have much time and do a quick clean around the tray area and would prefer not to pull out the trays, remove the lids etc. What I can do is toss the junk in something else and then reset. I really think it would be solved if the bottom was longer than the top. I'm not sure why they design like that. In any case, the top should be shorter than the bottom. Nevertheless, I would order these rugs again and recommend them.
