Treats both particles and odors well.
These filters remove odors very well which is why I bought them. The 20x20 size is the same as the box fan. When you attach it to the inlet side of the box fan and turn it on, it filters both dust and odors from the air. I use this in my office which is new and has a lot of weird construction smells (glue etc). Even if you only do this for a relatively short time, it makes a pretty big difference. I don't know how long they will last but these 6 packs should last quite a while and will do a lot of good for my air.
