I bought these to wear over the boy short bottoms that came attached to a shark-bite swim dress I also bought. I have severe varicose veins and I hate having my legs show. I was worried that they would be too snug, especially layered over other swim bottoms, but I was thrilled to find that they were quite comfortable to wear, even a bit loose! With my 47-inch waist, anytime I try on clothes and find that they are looser than I expect, that's a red-letter experience for me, haha! There is a hidden drawstring in the waistband, but I found I didn't need to use it. I liked the hidden pocket in the waistband for a locker key, too. The legs did not ride up over my calves when I jumped into the pool, and they stayed in place very well during swimming. Would highly recommend.
