Review on 360 Waterproof VR Camera GoPro Fusion - Spherical 5.2K HD Video and 18MP Photo Capturing by Anthony Morrow

Stunning spherical 5.2K videos; not very cool software.

First off, Fusion delivers really clean spherical 5.2K video and is really fun to shoot with. With the free app Fusion Studio on a Mac (I haven't tried the Windows version) you can create very nice video images with gimbal stabilization. This is the best stabilization I've ever seen on a 360° camera. Even with walking movements and micro-vibrations, the combination of hardware and software ensures smooth movement. Using Fusion is like using two GoPro Heroes paired back-to-back, and the Fusion Studio software lets you do what GoPro calls "resume," meaning you're shooting 16:9 HD or 4:3 cuts of any part of the image. 360 sphere. But to be clear, you don't need Fusion Studio to edit 16:9. This is easy to do in Final Cut Pro X or Premiere by placing co-rectangular clips on a standard 1080 timeline and then adjusting the orientation of the sphere. The footage fits perfectly in the project with other 1080 footage purchased from GoPro. Now the not so good news. The application itself is flashing very, very slowly. I have an iMac Pro 8 Core and it took 8 hours to render 12 minutes of video! Luckily I use another sewing software pro and it only took 1 hour for the same material. So GoPro needs to improve how the app uses the processor. Assuming your clips are relatively short and you're patient (let the clips render overnight), the camera is actually the best 360 camera I've ever used (and I've used a lot of them).
