Might have been a game changer

I had a first gen Surface Pro and loved it. But eventually I reverted to a regular laptop as needs changed. I have a Surface Pro 4 that I've been using for a few years now, but it's only used for the Lego PDF instructions on our Lego table. My everyday laptop was the Dell XPS13. But I've always liked the Surface Pro and wanted to buy one, but I work so hard after hours at home on the couch and the Surface Pro has never been very attractive. I bought this keyboard about a week ago and tested it with my Surface 4 Pro and it worked, so today I bought a new Surface Pro 7. Then I realized As with most Surface products, there are likely dozens of firmware updates to come. Sure enough, and after running Windows Updates until it caught up, this keyboard paired with no problems. It's comfortable to type on, even for fast touch typists like me. The trackpad works well and the hinges are solid and stable. My Surface Pro 4 doesn't seem as well designed as the 7, as the corners on the hinge have that nasty rainbow color that LCDs get when you press on them. However, the 7 shows little to no such display effect when hinge pressure is applied to it. It should be more durable. However, with all this joy, there is one big problem – function keys CANNOT be locked as function keys, they can always be locked as secondary functions. like brightness, Volume, etc. That means you can't do simple things like ALT + F4, because the function key and alt key toggle the trackpad on and off, meaning you can't press that combination. JE. I checked with support. So I desperately need the ability to use ALT + F4 on my everyday laptop. And now I can't have him on my lap. That was the whole reason I bought this. I may end up returning that and the Surface Pro 7 and just keep an eye out for another keyboard or an update for this keyboard that will allow ALT+F4 to work as usual. Which is a shame, I was really looking forward to finally being able to use the Surface as my full-time everyday laptop.
