I suspect that many of those who gave a good rating did not use the lift top function. When the tabletop is raised, it is VERY high. I can't imagine anyone having a chair or sofa high enough for their arms to rest comfortably on the top of the elevator. The height is not the only problem. The bodice doesn't even come close to covering your knees. Even if you put your feet under it (which is uncomfortable, by the way), it's nowhere near enough to cover your knees. I can't imagine the top lift feature being useful to anyone, anywhere. Other thoughts. It actually seemed pretty solid. Except for a small chip he also looked very nice. At the same time, many parts were attached with carpenter's glue. Considering the price you pay I would prefer something better than wood glue holding the thing together. DO NOT BUY! Hopefully Revain will discontinue this product so other people don't waste their time with this junk.
