Bought this thermometer specifically to write a review. However, I try to be honest and open in all my reviews. (See attached image.) At first I was skeptical that this thermometer would work. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality of this inexpensive kitchen tool. The device has an automatic switch-off. If a metal probe is inserted into the body, the device turns off. The probe is easy to pull out to use for temperature measurement. Readings are instantly displayed on screen (and they're accurate - I've verified!). It is backlit and easy to read. The body of the thermometer is made of durable plastic, and the instructions state it will withstand an accidental drop in water. However, be careful when washing. Don't submerge intentionally - I didn't do that, but the instructions say so. So far I'm very happy with this thermometer and glad I have an accurate tool for measuring the temperature of meat. Finally, it comes in a beautiful box that you can give to a chef friend or family member. What a wonderful device!
