I have both this book and the crochet version and I have to say they are both great. I was looking for a book that did a great job of illustrating both complex and simple patterns, with clear instructions that were easy to follow. This book is undeniably attractive; The colors and detail of the photos are wonderful and I want to try every stitch in the book! However, I'm having trouble deciphering some of the instructions. I was taught the basics of knitting by a friend, so I didn't know anything about slip stitches, increases, decreases or other subtleties. The illustrations and instructions for these concepts were not as clear as I would have liked and I had some frustrations before I finally understood. Another downside, which another reviewer pointed out, is the lack of charts. I've never used them before, but I recently bought the crochet version of this book and found that using the charts in THIS book makes the instructions a lot easier to read. I would really appreciate graphics being included in this volume; There was plenty of room at the bottom of the page. All in all a good buy but I think the book could use a little tweaking.
