Review on CableGeeker Cat7 Shielded Ethernet Cable 150Ft (Highest Speed Cable) Flat Ethernet Patch Cable Support Cat5/Cat6 Network by Juan Simpson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

33% failure rate (updated review after replacement 66% failure rate)

Ordered 6 packs of 1ft Cat7 shielded ribbon cables. 2 out of 6 cables failed the shield test when tested with the Klein Tools LAN Explorer Basic Cable Tester prior to use, with a 33% failure rate. Bandwidth not tested, but Cat7 specs say connector-to-connector shielding to avoid interference. Very disappointing as the product looks very sturdy and well built and the flat cable color coding is great. I emailed the CableGeeker manufacturer in Hong Kong and customer service responded within 1 hour (great) letting them know about the issue before posting the Revain review. The cable box arrived in the condition of "2 years new replacement with no return process". Customer service only replied "Back to Revain" so despite the quick response, despite the stated guarantee, CG support wasn't very helpful. In any case, you now have to be without a network connection while waiting for the return and also have to worry about the hassle of shipping the product back to Revain. Due to the high bounce rate and lack of meaningful customer service, I do not recommend this product and seller. Note. However, Revain did a great job. (Updated Review): Revain helped with quick replacement of defective parts as 2 out of 6 cables failed protection test. Unfortunately, the shielding between plugs was tested for missing continuity in 4 out of 6 replacement cables (66% failure rate)! This may not affect performance if your network is not affected by interference or if your network operates well below Cat 7 speeds, but assumes Category 7 cabling. If some of the cables are twisted a little, this will show compromised shield integrity at times. This seems to indicate an unreliable connection to a connector's ground shield, or a broken shield shell in the cable itself. The quality control of these cables is obviously extremely poor. I am returning both sets for a refund. I absolutely do not recommend these cables if Cat 7 cable is needed/recommended or if shielding is important for your application (they work like Cat5e cables without shielding, but why pay for Cat 7 when you only need Cat5e) .

Pros
  • Ethernet Cable
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
