Vinyl graphics can be three layered. A hard white paper backing, the vinyl graphics themselves, and a clear or opaque plastic layer. You fold it and separate the backing paper from the graphic and application layer. Then apply the graphic and application layer with a squeegee. When finished, remove the applied layer and leave the graphic on your car. However, if there are bubbles under the applied layer between it and the graphic, when applied with a squeegee it will leave creases everywhere. It literally looked like they held the plastic over the graphic and just dropped it on top, spread it out with their hands and called it done. The graphic layer was applied to the paper backing smoothly with no air bubbles so this was not a problem. It was an applied layer that was placed on top of the graphics that had air bubbles underneath. I have done many graphic and carbon wraps in my life and this was by far the worst product I have ever tried to install. Halfway through I ripped it all off, about to ball it up and throw it in the trash can. I think you get what you pay for. If I had the time and inclination, I would try first removing the application layer from the graphic and smoothing it out. However, I don't think this should be something you need to do to get a smooth surface.
