My office will be getting two of these IRU Office 511 computers. This model comes with a hard disk that has the model number ST500DM002-1BD142 put in it. I made him aware of the cracking sound that was coming from the hard drive while it was running, and I decided to check it using the MHDD tool. There are non-zero values for the following SMART parameters: 1, 7, 195, 240, 241, and 241 (in addition, the RAW values include at least 6-7 digits). During the scan, there were no bad sectors discovered; however, during the scan, at the slightest vibration of the system unit case (for example, if you move it), sectors with a long response time appeared. This indicates that the design of the HDD itself is fragile. A hard disk with such a design won't live very long, and soon after that, you'll notice performance issues as a result of it. I've already started making plans for when I'll use the warranty and upgrade the wheels to ones that are more dependable.
