Interferes with wireless mouse and keyboard

I am using this with a 16 inch Macbook Pro. HDMI works fine. I'm having trouble using a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard that uses a USB receiver. If a USB receiver is plugged directly into the hub, the devices will not work. Using a USB extension cable (see image) both the mouse and keyboard work fine. I'm deducting the star because of this issue.
