I had another small, non-spill, snap-top salt shaker for many years until it started falling apart. Has been replaced by this model. Since this is clearly not a product that most of us buy on a regular basis, it's difficult to have enough information to be objective. I'm not thrilled with the novelty and have some expected features, I can only compare: - Size: larger than the old one, the capacity is more comparable to the size of standard salt shakers. - Handle: its size and ribbing make it easier to grab quickly and without a lid: more difficult to handle; requires more force on the spring arm, which requires more force to tilt and pour. The lid must be kept open while pouring, it does not close. -Cleanliness: Constant small spills: the lid doesn't clog the holes, it just closes them, which allows free salt to enter the walled gap between the holes and the lid then falls onto the table. or into a spring at the nearest opening. - Filling: Moderate shaking is required to get the grains of the lamella through the holes, even when full. Suspicious holes may be a little small. Overall, I'm not very happy with this shaker, mainly due to its spilling tendency. I'll try to find something else. In the meantime, it must be done.
