Personally I think this board is a good size for what it is advertised - a cheese board. It's not a cutting board, all you need is a piece of cheese. But the size only limits its usefulness to its intended function. The grip knife is fun, but yes, not very reliable. But I suspect it's just a place to put the knife as long as you have the board on the table so it doesn't get in the way. You're not really meant to carry a board with a knife in the slot. I think it's so advertised and cute for what it was made for. It's part of the party and not intended for anything else. I think the current reviewers are a little harsh on this.
