Review on Gluware Intelligent Network Automation Software by Joe Garczynski
Using Cacti together wth Ansible made managing my servers much easier
The most useful thing is that it's easy to use for anyone with basic programming skills who can write simple scripts in any language like Python or Ruby. It also has an API which makes integration very straight forward. There are some features which I would be interested if they could add support for them - such as support for multiple VLANs (or maybe even subnets) per switch port/VDSLAM interface. We've used this product mainly for network monitoring but we have not found anything really great about it so far. Our main goal was to monitor our infrastructure and provide alerts when something goes wrong.
Pros
- Very good documentation
- Easy GUI, lots functionality at minimum cost.
- Good user forum,
- Support from both technical people AND marketing experts! :)
Cons
- No way how you get notified by email once there were new versions available
- Difficulties installing software onto Ubuntu servers
