Review on πŸ”‹ MNJ MOTOR DC Battery Monitor Meter: 0-200V 0-100A LCD Display for Cars, RVs, and Solar Systems - Digital Multimeter Voltmeter Ammeter with Current Shunt Wiring Kit Set by Dan Rivera

Decent product, good value for money

Comes nicely packaged with meter, shunt, cables and instructions. You can imagine the picture. Which can be both good and bad. The connection instructions are clear enough. Except that it doesn't say how and where to connect the charger. The ammeter is unidirectional, which presumably means that current flowing in both directions is added. Which in turn means that the counters at AH and WH increase in both directions due to the current flow. I think that means if you connect the meter as a load, the reading will go up when charging and when discharging. And if you charge and discharge at the same time, the counters increase depending on the network. Alternatively, you can connect the charger directly to the battery, in which case the meter only counts discharge charges and ignores all charges. Or you can get two meters, one with load shunt and the other with load shunt. The instructions seem to have been translated from Chinese. It's good enough if you have a rough idea of what you're doing anyway. Some notes: a) The device is marked "External Resistance" which seems to be listed as "Impedance" in the manual. b) the instruction uses the term "apply load voltage" without defining it. Presumably this is the voltage at the load at the current time. c) Internal resistance is defined as (full voltage - load voltage) / load current", which can mean the drop from full voltage to actual voltage divided by actual current - but I'm not sure what it means to state this value. The voltage range (Min and Max to view a battery bar graph) and current range (Max, determined by the shunt used) can be set by alternate long and short presses of a button on the front panel with a screwdriver or pencil or similar. Similarly, AH counter, WH and operation time can be reset. The meter has two modes, operation mode and sleep mode. In sleep mode, the display backlight turns off and all measurements and calculations are stopped. The instructions report a power consumption of 0.031 0.2 W in normal mode, 0.5mW -0.5W in sleep mode, depending on the voltage value (higher voltage, higher power) Can d Haven't felt the accuracy yet, packed a lot in a small measuring device at a low price.

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Don't like it, everything is fine
