I wanted this timer to do two things: attach it to a metal surface and perform basic timing functions. He only does one of those things. If you're looking for a timer that will actually stick to any metal surface (oven wall, fridge, coffee maker, etc.) then this timer isn't for you. The built-in magnet is too weak to support the weight of the timer. The timer is equipped with a small plastic stand. So if you weren't planning on using a magnet in this small digital kitchen timer with a magnetic back, you won't be totally disappointed. (While the build quality of this timer also leaves something to be desired, it may do the job for a timer that sells for around $5 apiece.) , but pretty much useless, a magnet on the back.
