Here's the thing: -- it's not a full-size Tamagotchi, it's a miniature Tamagotchi. You need them because you can do so little with them. They *DO* feed him either, but there's no way of telling how much he needs or what the effect is. Presumably he would die if you didn't do it enough, but there are no hearts or indicators of his condition. He seems to eat one food indefinitely; the other is currently only accepting a certain amount. They *REALLY* have two games you can play, but there's no way to tell if you "should" play the games, nor a menu to view them. Your progress or impact that may have been caused by playing these games. In one game, Spears of Longinus fall from the top of the screen while you dodge them left, right, or center below - it's like a lo-fi hybrid of Galaga and Frogger. Have fun; boring quickly. The other game is the "Aim" game, where the target's crosshairs will automatically cycle through a series of positions until it "finds" the opponent's dead spot, after which you press the "B" (Center) button. It doesn't really feel like a Tamagotchi FPS game, but *THAT* is really cool because it really is a direct representation of Shinji's experience originally trained in Unit-01 in the anime, right down to the crosshair design ! Have fun; boring quickly. It doesn't matter what game it's in, it DOES NOT CHANGE depending on which angel is in your evacchi at the moment. It seems like a silly criticism because the Tamagotchi and Digimon games remain the same despite evolution, but they change the character presented in those games to whoever you're raising and that [Angel] just doesn't is in the game. Games on this device so they never change. Not only do they never change, it's impossible to tell what effect they'll have on the angel you raise because there's no effort bar or menu at all. Quite an odd experience as there are all the quirks that are surprising that I just mentioned but none of them really bother what's happening here which is that Evangelion now has a bunch of V-Pets and it's just cool ! The overall bonus is that despite their inefficiency, these games are really good; I mean - what did you expect? and look how cool! The real value here is that this thing just really exists; it's pretty cool. that and SHELL, SAM! The physical blockage is just great. Maybe take out the batteries and hang them on the Eve figurine like a locket.
