I was hoping the indicator would light up for incoming calls and it WORKS! We used an old black rotary phone at home for many years and all my boys have learned how to use it. Now that we have another noisy phone in the house (at the second location), we never miss calls again! The packaging is good, everything is as it should be. The bottom connectors on the phone show you which wire goes where (to the handset or to the wall jack). I personally wanted a black cord with a red phone, not red, so this one is perfect. The buttons are light weight and well spaced - just like they used to be when they were made years ago. This phone is much lighter than my black rotary phone because it doesn't have a lot of metal parts. The guys think this phone is fun to use to call phone salespeople compared to a $10 store phone in a small cradle. There is something very beautiful about this classic standing phone!
