Review on G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 Dual Channel Desktop Memory by Jessica Brown

This is good RAM and I like G.Skill but the packaging could be improved or it could come in a box instead of a padded envelope. In short, the first order was DOA, the replacement was shipped immediately and worked great. If it's compatible with your system, this is a great memory kit at a decent price. Good buy. My kid wanted to upgrade his computer and he had $100 for his birthday so I gave him this as a gift. The first set delivered had some damage to the plastic packaging (several cracks and dents) but physically the ram looked fine. I removed and installed the old RAM stick. I turned the power back on and started the computer, but it wouldn't boot. Pulled out the RAM and reinstalled the old flash drive and the system worked again. I double checked that these particular memory modules are compatible with my system and that the ones that came were simply defective or rather damaged in transit. I am very careful with all electronic parts. I have a dedicated ground port that I plug my work surface into, as well as a wrist strap. I'm very experienced in building my own systems so I didn't violate that, it was just DOA. Due to the quick exchange I do not deduct the stars from the rating.
