Review on Caliper TUTOOLS Piston Spreader Ratchet by Eric Glup

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Nice try, but don't reinvent the wheel here.

I also needed a caliper compressor to work. Anyone who uses this type of compressor knows it's best to use it, but this isn't the answer. I run 350-659 so the calipers are pretty big. I was hoping this would open up more than the old style because I have to place a pad between the tool and the caliper pistons to push them all the way back so the bolts don't come out of the tool. It opens to almost the same length. The worst part is the magnets that hold the spreader plates in place. It's okay if the surfaces are perfectly clean, but even the tiniest bit of rust between the tool and the extensions will not stay on the tool, rendering it useless in any type of workshop. I tried welding them on and everything worked fine until dirt got between the plate and the screw. Now the screw will not turn when pressure is applied to the plate. All in all it was a good try and fairly cheap but it's not meant for the real world and I'll be ordering a replacement for the original style.

Pros
  • So far everything seems to be
Cons
