I originally ordered this but they sent a cut to cut (sp?) instead. I wanted to return it but when I saw what it could do I didn't. I like it. We ordered and received the food slicer again. I've been using these cuts (made in Germany) since I came to this country. It's simple - all Americans want to use it to sell you a house and dozens of extras. No, just a simple slicer, please. We use it mainly for cucumber salad, but also for onions, shallots, beets, cabbage, etc. Nice and easy! Oh the finger guards are sold separately but we also had a few from other slicers that work as well.
