I had a second degree vapor burn on my head which resulted in 15% of the scalp falling off the head along with the hair. After shedding the damaged tissue, the healing process was very slow as I initially tried to keep the wound clean and dry and bandaged. No, I haven't been to the doctor, I haven't even researched. It was a nightmare because it was impossible to remove every single hair that fell out of the wound so that they then crusted over and stuck to the hair that had fallen out, and it was impossible to pull the hair out like that Crust didn't come off. Charming I know. Anyway, this ordeal of cleaning, drying, bandaging, scabbing, re-injuring, recurring lasted two weeks before I had an epiphany: maybe there's a reason my scalp is producing a ridiculous amount of oil. I say soak the entire side of the pillowcase in plenty of scalp oil. I told you I'm charming. Why am I removing this oil that my head is bound to produce? Once I stopped brushing and drying it, the generous scalp oil naturally lubricated any loose hair and kept the scabs from sticking. The same with the bandage. I wanted to digress on how pungent my scalp oil smelled because it was actually quite remarkable and always had a hint of the last smell I ate. And the fact that it was a slightly pale yellow, mostly transparent but left very hard stains. That pillowcase I mentioned? Wet in the morning, crispy in the afternoon like salted butter. Now I'm a big fan of scalp oil. Unfortunately it's pretty gross and smelly and believe me if I find it gross it's rude. During one of my late-night searches for scalp oil, I happened to come across a letter in a medical journal in Australia that mentioned that this product was the only one that helped a patient with a serious head injury. For any scalp tinkerer, a common complication that slows healing is an ingrown hair that tries to pop out of the wound but gets stuck in the scab, leading to the vicious cycle mentioned above. The correspondent noted that a generous dose of this lotion works better as a natural scalp oil. I grudgingly agree that this product is superior to scalp oil, especially in smell and taste. Unlike scalp oil, it's not edible, but it's really the only category where scalp oil gets a W. Seriously, it's like the most physically emollient lotion there is. It's smoother than coconut oil but not greasy and rubs into the skin but not completely. There's no residue, but your hands are just really soft afterwards. If price is not an issue and you have a severe scalp burn and you think doctors are charlatans at best and your spouse woke up with an oil stain on your scalp on your pillowcase and suggested that you find an alternative to all natural treatments Check you read correctly and found the right product. Thank goodness because if you don't have a head injury and have read this far, I am sorry to report that you do have a head injury.
