Update 5/4/17: I use them every morning before work and hate them more and more. I originally gave them 2 stars due to ASICS commitment but my legs get tired and sore after every workout. My arches seem to be collapsing (I have relatively high arches and need a lot of support). Also, I was tired of squeezing my toes in a futile attempt to keep my feet from slipping off the edges during lateral movements. And the switch from reverse lunges? Forget it. My feet are pressed against the front of the shoe making it very uncomfortable. Serious? Who knew putting a big toe that big on an elliptical machine would be a good idea? These are not shoes for screaming out loud. Fun. They have neither support nor stability. I do various beach body workouts (T25, 21 Day Fix, Core de Force, etc.). Lots of explosive moves both sideways and vertical. These shoes are killing my feet. I take her to a stack of dog shoes. Original post: I bought an older version of these shoes in 2014 and love them. It's 2017 and the old pair is worn a little (read: a lot) for cross training. Buying the same model (or an updated version) was easy. This new model does not impress me. Everything I loved about the old ones is missing from this pair. The cushioning of the ball of the foot during impact movements is very low. The old pair had a notch (for lack of a better word) that covered the heel, preventing it from sliding in the shoe during lateral movements. Also, the sidewalls were stiffer, preventing the forefoot from sliding forward or sideways. Unfortunately, the toe box is wider on this pair (and I didn't buy the W width) and the sidewalls aren't very supportive. As a result, my feet slide toward the edges of the insole when doing side lunges. Forward or backward lunges push the toes forward (which they shouldn't and didn't do in the old version). Cross trainers are designed to support cross training movements and prevent leg fatigue (yes!). My ASICS shoes (designed for forward movement) actually have better lateral support than these (and that's not saying much). All in all very disappointed in them. For the price, they're not much better than a pair of useless fashion sneakers in terms of functionality. Also, they look a bit stuffy. Doesn't really matter as I only wear them to workout but if they're bulky then at least they can do their job and if they can't do their job then they should look good. . Both not. I'm keeping them until they wear out as the return period has passed but I don't know what I'm getting for it. I've always relied on ASICS, but clearly I can't anymore - at least not for ellipticals.
