It's pretty cold in the middle of winter and my child hates wearing pajamas or long johns under pants because their cuffs stand up and are terribly irritating. He asked if there were really long socks, at least knee-length, preferably black. (He prefers all black in the winter to keep out the sun's heat, and mostly white/yellow in the summer.) I saw these long black socks and bought them. My child is now happy with the extra layer on his legs. Oh yeah, he says they're easier to put on than he'd expect from socks that long and they don't wrinkle or wobble or anything. He is 12 years old, average height/weight for a 12 year old boy.
