Does the job, dangling from the hinge
I'm thinking of making a small slot in the screw so I can tighten the shell more efficiently. Where the board meets the handle it will wobble as the screw cannot be fully tightened. Overall it's much more efficient than its metal counterpart, so I'll continue to use it, albeit with a slight modification.
