First off, it looks like "Robotime" is trying to rip off ROKR. This is a ROKR branded kit, I just flipped the top which had the brand name laser engraved on it. Secondly, this is my second ROKR model and with patience and care it came together quite easily. Keep wood glue and something thin and sharp, like a utility knife, handy, as many gears and smaller parts will have wood chips on them when you remove them. Easy to paste if you pay attention to the details! Third, be aware that apart from the watch at the end, this is a FULLY MECHANICAL MODEL. This means that you must CAREFULLY change the date every day. The gears only move in one direction, so be careful with that. Fourth, please note that my photos show a FULLY PAINTED MODEL. The original colors seemed boring and uninteresting to me. Also, the months/days were hard to read. So, after a light montage to understand what went where, I painted everything. I also used 1 inch styrofoam letters for the days/months after painting them and assembling the model with the original letters inside. In the future I do not recommend painting these models. Tolerances are so tight that they make assembly difficult with a high probability of broken parts. Also a HUGE pain in the ass. Instead, I suggest using a wood color pigment that can be added to alcohol. Add some flak if you want extra shimmer. This allows better penetration into all the details without increasing the breadth of the details. One star less than "gift" because it's a little hard to move despite wax and careful assembly. Especially the numbers in the middle. The correct date can only be seen from the front at eye level, so placement is affected. For some odd reason, Revane wanted me to rate it on "transparency" and given that it's solid wood, minus the plexiglass frame, one star. Final Tips. Keep a set of small, thin files (especially round ones) handy for grinding burrs. A 1 inch piece of sandpaper is crap. Also some wax. These cheap birthday candles work. Apply wax to the gears where they touch to make them easier to move. Stain, don't paint - this also prevents paint from clogging up some small parts. Also, Revain is giving me a $3 gift certificate for being the first to review this. I hope it helps! They're really fun to build, with a few extra touches in case of accidents.
