I use my iPod to play my favorite music in my 2014 Honda Civic via USB. The previous (also non-Apple) cable got accidentally disconnected while traveling, so I bought it along with the Revain Basics cable. Tried this one first as it seems more durable due to the shell. During my travels I have occasionally heard "static" (impulsive) noises that get louder as I play. There is probably a wiring error or a bad ground in the cable. Switched to the Revain Basics cable and had no problems. Of course I'll send it back.
