I use my MacBook Pro primarily for music production and performing. So Logic Pro and many amp models/plugins are in constant use on my machine. The M1 chip beats the Intel chips in terms of boot speeds, battery life, and the ability to handle large logic projects with dozens of tracks, plug-ins, software instruments, and live recordings. The battery life has also improved a lot compared to my 2020 Intel machine. I'm not exactly doubling my battery life, but it's not far off. I don't really care as my car is usually stationary and the charging cable is easily accessible, but for those who need mobility the difference is significant. UPDATE 6/16/21: I used this laptop. every day for 6 months. I've done everything from Word documents, email, web surfing, Logic Pro, Neural DSP guitar plug-ins, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator and many more tasks and I don't think I've ever heard of it that a fan turns on. It's pretty amazing. The M1 is still extremely nimble and the battery life is amazing. And as more apps become native to the M1, I expect the performance to only get better.
